Although this web site building guide is free, it is worth reading. I’ve learned a few new concepts, gain further insights, and an appreciation in the how and why a web page or web site should be built. It’s a lot of reading and you may not fully grasp it all, but I believe after applying what you learn, you will have web sites that will last a long time in the search engines.
Anti-Spam Site
In no way do the ideas presented in this guide advocate building sites using search engine spam techniques. It warns that these sites will be banned and remove from the search engines once a human editor determines that you site adds no value to the Internet. It’s all based on a controversial anti-spam report, which is being taken seriously by a few webmasters. Several of the search engines spamming techniques are explained in this free report.
Building Web Sites In Demand
There’s no point in building a web site on a topic were no one or only a few people would be interested in. This guide shows you how to find topics with enough demand that are worthwhile to pursue. It starts with keyword research. However, if you do keyword research using the wrong tools, you’ll be disappointed with the results. Dr. Andrew Williams, recommends using WordTracker for your keyword research. He believes WordTracker’s data are more accurate than Overture.com’s free keyword inventory suggestion tool. I tend to agree. WordTracker’s demand figures, that’s the number of searches for a given keyword or phrase appear to be more conservative when compared to Overture’s.
What To Do With Your Keyword Research Data
After you’ve found a few keywords or phrases under a particular niche, this guide tells you exactly what to do with them to create your web site.
You take those keywords, which people are searching for, but which other webmasters have overlooked, and build web pages that answer questions. Using a tool like Keyword Results Analyzer, which is one of Dr. Andrew William’s products, you can filter out those phrases that are actually questions people have typed into the search engines. Then you do a little research on the web to find the answers to those questions and you create web pages from them.
The guide shows you how to find out if any of these keywords you’ve chosen will be profitable.
Theme Pages
Creating “Fat” Affiliate Sites, shows you how to theme your web pages. This approach to creating your site will maximize the chances that the search engines are going to list your site in their results pages over a wider combination of keywords. With theme pages, you have a main keyword phrase you are focusing on and you have secondary keywords related to it, which will help attract more traffic if they are included on the page. Dr. Andrew William’s goes into detail how he builds his pages using this concept. Actually, you can try a test search on Google and you’ll see this in action.
Articles & Pre-selling
After you’ve assembled your keyword data and know what you want your site to be about it’s time to create the pages to your site. Dr. Andrew Williams goes over the differences between an article and a main or pre-selling page. He’ll show you how he gets ideas for writing the content of these pages.
He shows you what to include these pages and how to logically organize your pages so you will get your visitor to take action, that is, click your affiliate link to the merchant website.
If you are in doubt whether the content or article you have on your site is of value to visitors or the search engines, Dr. Andrew Williams has a simple test to help you determine that. If you past the test, you’ll most likely not be banned by Google’s team of human editors.
Domain Names
There’s a debate going on about domain names. Should you stuff it with keywords, separate them with hypens so the search engines will see these keywords in your domain name, and in turn rank your websites higher than other sites not using this strategy? This guide presents its point of view.
Linking Strategies
How do you link your sites page together correctly? You’ll learn which of the different link types will help you get spider by the search engines, and which type of link will probably get you no traffic from them.
Link Partner Pages
Dr. Andrew Williams admits he doesn’t actively find link partners. He believes other ways of getting inbound links, such as submitting articles to article directories are more effective means to achieving his objectives.
However, he does have link partner pages some of his sites with information for potential link partners to request a reciprocal link. He rejects a majority of the link request he receives in the mail.
His free guide spells out what he is looking for in a link partner. Some of the criteria he applies included making sure the other site is related to his, that they don’t have a Google PR penalty and that the other sites link to their link partner page is accessible on the homepage.
There are many more topics covered in Creating “Fat” Affiliate Sites. I’ve just gone over the subjects, which I’ve found most valuable to my own web site building situation. I’ve started a new website and will be applying his theme concept while building it.
